Pennies from Heaven

This is Charlie.... she's one of my pennies from heaven because she inspires me daily.

Charlie

For years my closest friends were people from school, friends that I'd known since I was a child. But when I moved to London 2 years ago I met Charlie and I was surprised to find myself a brand new friend in my 30s. Charlie and I were initially brought together through our love of photography (still a big part of our friendship) but I also found someone patient, strong, fun-loving, caring, encouraging, stylish, inspiring and frankly, badass :0)

When I'm feeling low, she emails me in the morning to see how I am and remind me of why I should be happy today. She always goes out of her way to tell me when my creative work is getting better and she has made my partner as welcome in her life as I am.

These images are a homage to her love of hats and her cheekiness and, (for those that know Charlie as crustydolphin) her obsession with lovely soft backlighting.

  1. as I said on flickr, these are great shots.

I especially like the top one.

You can always meet new best friends, no matter what age you are.

True friends you can always count on one hand.

  2. I love the meaning behind this series. I always say it's difficult to meet "cool" girls once you're out of school and such, so I can see how meaningful this is to have someone that inspires you and that you can trust and have fun together "all grown up". It's so nice that photography has brought you (us) together. You both are ladies that inspire me and I only wish I had met you sooner when I needed close/good friends while living in London. These are beautiful images. You know I also have a fondness for back light and fields! Gorgeous model, gorgeous photographer, beautiful meaning. I'm excited to see more! Love, Britt xo
